Going Against The Flow

Imagine that you have been floating along on an ocean current that's energized by the choices of your past. Up until now, you may have felt that you had no control over the direction you were going in because your course had been set long ago based upon the decisions you'd made then.
Now imagine that you are tossing out an anchor. Movement stops while you determine the new direction you are going in. You've made up your mind that your past will no longer dictate your future and it's time to 'go against the flow' of what has become familiar to you.
Dropping the anchor becomes a metaphor which symbolizes that you are taking the time to rechart your life based upon where you are right now and the decisions you're able to make today. If you don't like where the current has been taking you - where do you want to go?
Determine what's important to you. Set goals that will help you to obtain what's closest to your heart and then diligently, one day at a time, follow your heart to success.
Going against the flow will be challenging at first. But the more you persist in your new direction the easier it becomes. Some days might be harder than others but on those days remember - you're trying to get to a better place.
Don't quit.
Soon you will see the horizon of your new shoreline and not long after that you will be walking on the warm sands of your heart's desire.

Thanks for the comments and for joining my fan club. I do enjoy giving constructive feedback - more than just a "That was a nice article" response. Because I love it when others give me the real low down on something I've written. How it made them feel, what it reminded them of, whether or not they could relate to it or not, etc. If there is a specific article you'd like me to read and comment on... just let me know. Until next time... You are awesomely loved by an awesome God!
I'm dropping anchor right now Edwina, great article and strange that I have come across this article at this time!Hello Leah! I take it you are in the midst of some kind of wonderful transition? 2008 is the year of new beginnings and I've jumped onboard as well to rethink some things and determine am I really on the right path going in the right direction. It's March and so far the ride has been interesting, but I am making progress. Checked out your website. Great site! There were many avenues I could have wondered down while I was there but my husband just came home sick and I need to give him a little TLC! Here's to good old chicken soup... Oh, and thanks for joining my fan club!
